ABSTRACT

Objective:

Methods that are used in the treatment of viral warts are mostly local destructive techniques. The aim of this study is to compare cryotherapy, a frequently used method, with a topical solution of 1% cantharidin, 5 % podophyllin and 30% salicylic acid (Canthacur-PS®).

Material and Methods:

30 patients aged 15 and over included in this study. Cryotherapy and Canthacur-PS® were each applied to a different lesion of same patient.

Results:

24 (80%) lesions to which cryotherapy were applied and 18 (60%) lesions to which a topical solution of Canthacur- PS® were applied resolved completely.

Conclusion:

No difference between the efficacy of cryotherapy and Canthacur-PS® in the treatment of verruca vulgaris was found.
