ABSTRACT
Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common type of primary cutaneous lymphomas which is divided into 3 stages: patch, plaque and tumor. The lesions often begin as limited patches and plaques which can progress to systemic involvement. Treatment options depend upon the clinical staging of MF. The treatment of early-stage MF mostly targets the skin; including topical glucocorticoids, topical nitrogen mustard, topical karmustin, total skin electron-beam radiotherapy, PUVA, narrow band UVB, UVA-1. Systemic treatments such as extracorporeal photopheresis, interferons, retinoids, denileukin diftitox, histone deacetylase inhibitors and monoclonal antibodies are used generally in advanced cases. Due to the new and effective treatment modalities the prognosis of mycosis fungoides has significantly improved over the last several years.
