ABSTRACT

Favre-Racouchot syndrome is a disease of elderly male that develops due to chronic sun exposure. ‘The nodular cutaneous elastosis together with comedones and cysts’ is the other name of the disease. Findings due to solar damage in the form of large, black-brown, non-inflammatory comedones, coarsening of the skin and deep sulci can be seen especially on the forehead, dorsum of the nose, malar, temporal and periorbital areas that are exposed to sun. The etiopathogenesis is not known but chronic sun exposure, smoking, radiation and physical agents are proposed predisposing factors. We present an elderly male patient who was diagnosed to have Favre-Racouchot syndrome with typical distribution of the comedones on the face and years of heavy smoking history. Our patient’s findings were quite demonstrative of Favre-Racouchot syndrome.
