ABSTRACT
Eczema herpeticum (Kaposi’s varicelliform eruption) is characterized by disseminated vesiculopustules and erosions caused by a herpes simplex virus infection, superimposed on a pre-existing chronic dermatosis such as atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, ichthyosis, Darier’s disease (keratosis follicularis), pemphigus foliaseus, psoriasis and mycosis fungoides. The most frequently associated disease is atopic dermatitis. Darier’s disease is an autosomal dominant genodermatosis characterised by dirty yellow and warty follicular papuler lesions distributed mainly within the seborrheic areas of the body and it is a rare chronic dermatose that may predispose to eczema herpeticum. In this article, a 24-year-old male patient with vesicular lesions mainly located on his face and trunk and diagnosed as eczema herpeticum associated with Darier’s disease was presented. This rare association was discussed in the view of recent literature.
