ABSTRACT
Background and Design:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the current interest of The patients about cosmetic procedures in daily dermatology outpatient practice.
Materials and Methods:
In this study 326 patients who admitted to dermatology outpatient Clinics both in a university hospital and a private hospital, were enrolled. They were given a questionnaire to fill out in order to obtain information about their interest in cosmetic procedures. The patients’ responses were recorded and their knowledge about the Sixteen procedures were analyzed.
Results:
Laser hair removal was the best known cosmetic interest among the Females (85.7%), on the other hand it was hair transplantation among the males (83.8%). TCA and salicylic acid peels were at least known cosmetic procedures among ourPatients (10.7-11.5% females, 4.1-6.8% males). In our survey 25% of females and 9.5% of males had received treatmentf or at least one procedure. Television was the primary source of information for those cosmetic procedures among the females (36.1%). On the other hand, men were mostly informed by the internet (39.2%).
Conclusion:
In this study one university hospital and one private hospital dermatology ,Outpatient clinic information about cosmetic procedures and experiences of the patients were identified. Largescale, multicenter study will help clarify this issue.
